Working MIDI devices

They do, I’ll have to try that out. Thanks for the recommendation.

I did some testing with that cable. It works for me using my Ableton Move but I can’t get it to work with the MetaModule.

i have two of those usb midi adapters. i linked them together with couplers and im getting midi back/forth between my mm and windows. wonder why it doesnt work for you

I am using the MIDI in/out on the back of my Behringer interface. Perhaps that is difference. I will have to look at the 2 cable + couplers method.

i will say its a bit confusing with this particular usb-din adapter, the cable that says “out” on it is actually the in- so the “out” labeled cable on the adapter needs to be plugged into the out port on whatever device you’re plugging it into.

Torso T-1 over USB - doesn’t work :frowning:
OPXY - doesn’t work

Firmware 2.02

Both appear to also be midi hosts. Midi Hosts don’t play well with other midi hosts.

If anyone has a MIDI device that does NOT work then try this firmware: https://github.com/4ms/metamodule/releases/download/firmware-v2.0.6-rc1/metamodule-firmware-v2.0.6-rc1-firmware-assets.zip

It specifically adds support for NI controllers but also fixed a bug that was probably causing issues with other controllers as well.

This will be part of the v2.0.6 release if you want to wait for the official firmware.

Here’s a way to deal with the noise issue when connecting a Launch Control XL. (I own the old version, not sure if the Mk3 still has the same problem)

I found that the problem is caused by the LED driver/dimmer circuit. I went into the editor and switched off every status LED under the knobs. The noise got reduced by about 95%, and the setup is now fully usable.

Those LED’s are of not much use anyway imo. Just labelled the knobs using washi tape.

Magnificent detective work there! Yes it impacts both versions, I have both, and you have the solution, TY (EDIT) Confirmation on the newer model, no noise at all (EDIT 2) at the start but then it began maybe a bit quieter.

Electra one mk1 working here

2.0.6 also fixed MIDI over USB from both the Digitakt II & Digitone II for me.

Not recognized by the Synthstrom Deluge. I guess it’s because the MM is a midi host?

So I use a CME U2MIDI Pro from MM USB to the Deluge din ports. The neat thing is it’s a programmable cable, so I use it to fake polyphony out from the MM by merging all the midi channels together.

I can confirm that NerdSEQ via Multi-IO USB works like a charm. link

Hi @TheTechnobear

So I assume you are connecting this to the MM using the Device Port on the Erae 2 (The port you normally would send to a computer DAW)?

Thank you!

yes, the MM is a host, so you connect to the device port on erae.

note: I do not use bus power.
this is because you need to use external power for full range CV, and also I prefer the brighter pads.

Thank you!

Thanks for the tip! Working perfectly!

ADDAC221 CV to MIDI CC converter works perfectly. Without anything plugged into it it gives you 10 more knobs. With CVs plugged into it, it gives you 10 CV controllers. I am using mine with 4 Planar2 and one Flight of Harmony Choices and it has worked flawlessly so far. I plug directly from the front panel USB-B jack to the MM’s USB jack.

Hiho,

this might read like a commercial but I´m totally flashed by
the H4MIDI WC (sounds funny). 4x DIN, USB device/host and the
ability to power the box via 9V for more beefy USB devices at its host port.

You can configure whatever routing and filtering you want via the
configuration software.
