New Plugin: Venom

Happy to announce Venom has been ported to the MetaModule!

Download here: MetaModule | Plugins

VCV link: VCV Library - Venom

Note 1: that no expanders and no poly-only modules were ported (since the MM does not support these). This is also the case with other plugins, but over Venom contains a large percentage of expanders and modules that only are useful with polyphonic cables. As we add support for these features, they’ll be ported.

Note 2: Several of the modules use screens (NORS-IQ), which work well on the v2.0-dev branch (requires v2.0.0-dev-10.0)

I’ll post the v2.0-dev version when it’s ready (requires an updated v2.x firmware)

Oh sweet, these are great. VCO Lab will be fantastic on the Meta.

OK, v2.0-dev version of Venom is up! It requires the latest beta firmware (v2.0.0-dev-10.2), both can be downloaded from MetaModule | Downloads

Thanks for making Venom available Dan!

I look forward to taking over maintenance in the near future so that I can release Venom updates for the MetaModule at the same time as VCV updates. Hopefully it doesn’t take me too long to get up to speed.

I’ve created and posted a fully functioning Benjolin patch that is a lot of fun to play with. The Venom Benjolin Oscillator has the oscillators and the Rungler, but is missing a resonant filter. I use the Ripples filter to complete the patch.

Some notes on the current Venom Meta Module port:

The following modules are in the port, but really require polyphony to be useful. So they probably should not be included until polyphony becomes available in MM.

  • Recurse
  • Recurse Stereo
  • Poly Fade

Also, the Thru module is really designed to work with stacked inputs. It has minimal functionality without that feature in MM. So it also can probably be removed until MM adds support for stacked inputs.

Nice to see you here Dave!
And thank you for making your modules available.

I can remove those plugins – I see what you mean they aren’t very useful without polyphony.

Really excited for official v2 with poly. Use Venom in VCV constantly and in a hybrid setup with the es-9, being able to build out some macro patches with Venom for the MM will be epic.

That is great to hear - thanks!

I also hope MM poly support is not too far in the distant future. Much of the functionality of Venom is greatly enhanced, if not dependent on polyphony. I think polyphony is in Dan’s plans, but I haven’t seen any implementation in v2 yet.

Hi Dave, it’s funny I just mentioned you in a post on the VCV forum. We’ve never met but I was trying to create a patch loosely inspired by the new Mannequins Silhouette module and a user recommended I start with your Polyfade which led me here as my goal with the patch is to load it onto the MM once poly is implemented. I posted a WIP on the VCV forum and once it’s optimized a bit more and if I can figure out how to strip out the poly for now I’ll post over here too. Anyway thanks again, your support for the Meta Module is a huge plus.

Hi. This collection is a huge add for MM indeed. Is there any chance that MM will support pluggins modules expanders?
Or should it be possible to assemble main modules and expanders into a single module?
I’m thinking of the mix and expander midules for instance.
Those together would be so usefull for pseudo polyphony MM patches.
Tanks for your awesom work.

Expanders are on the plan, but not for the initial v2.0 release.
Some discussion about the details of it here:
