This came up in another thread (Change "Edit Parameter" selection behavior), the idea there was that in performance mode clicking on a knob/control from the Module View will immediately take you to the Adjust feature. Hitting back takes you back to the module view, so the whole “Mapping Pane” is skipped.
The button-bar could be simplified in Performance mode: no File menu, no Add Module button. Keeping the Play/Pause, Info, and KnobSet view buttons seems right. The Patch Settings menu could get a new item: “Edit Mode”. Long-holding both the encoder and button could also toggle the mode.
Then, yeah it sounds good to have it jump to the KnobSet page when you do the button+encoder combo.
What would happen when you click on a Knob from the KnobSet page? Nothing? Or would it still let you edit the min/max? Or take you to that module’s knob in the ModuleView?
The ModuleView Action menu could just have “Randomize” and “Initialize”.
I suppose clicking on a jack would just show the connected cables, but hide the buttons for making new cables.
The System menu should probably stay as-is: it’s hard to accidentally get there and you might need to (change sample rate, for instance).
I’m sure there’s some other pages/pop-ups that will come up as we go along. But yeah, I think this is a good idea!
