Hi everyone, my first post here. I recently bought a metamodule and I find myself needing a quantizer on a turing machine patch. Turns out fundamental quantizer has all the scales as presets and I can’t seem to map a knob to choose a scale. I see JW scale has a knob for the scale and it works but before I settle into that alternative, is there a way to map scales on ther fundamental quantizer or do you have a recommendation for a quantizer with more scales than the JW ? Thanks
Hey welcome to the forums! ![]()
I do not use the fundamental quantizer. I mainly use the JW quantizer for quick patching but, I also really like the Sickozell SickQuant! It allows you to save up to 32 user defined scales and is easy to switch scales using mapped controls knobs! This is also great if you don’t want full on scales and just want a few notes! VCV Library - Sickozell sickoQuant Hope this helps! ![]()
Just like in VCV Rack, you can find presets under the tool icon, where a full selection of scales is available. Of course, you can also edit them directly using the keyboard interface. Once you select the notes you want, you can turn each note on or off—meaning you can customize a scale freely in any situation.
Thanks for both replies. I just found thread that is somewhat related, in that it asks for CV control of presets.
See here Preset Folders and a module to cv control presets
What would be great is if we could map a meta module knob to the preset list and scroll through it.
I have 8 fundamental quantizers patched to the 8 outs of sicko cell random loops hence why manually selecting each preset is donkeys work. This can be done in vcv with stoermelder CTX module and any of thr map modules in the collection.
Alas, I’ll use the jw quantizer or the suggested sickocell quantizer in the meantime !
Cheers !
Oops, sorry~ I think I misunderstood you. I was using a translation tool, so I didn’t quite get it ~”~
I’ve been using the Orange Line MOTHER quantizer with some success - it is pretty easy to assign scales to the SCALE knob in VCV Rack, and then simply scroll through those once copied over to the MM…. your mileage may vary, obviously!!
