After a short while, my module shows a white screen and nothing works anymore. Rebooting the case doesn’t work either. When I press the reset button on the back, it can resume normal operation, but then the white screen shows up again. Doesn’t seem like a bug, but a hardware issue.
I tried a lot of things before posting. Thanks for your swift reply, btw, I am preparing a video for it for my channel.
I tried to load the new firmware in between white screens (I managed to get it running just long enough to install new firmware using ‘reset’ on the back). I think my module came with the initial 1.0.1 firmware. First powerup was with the 4MS Row Power 40 in a tiny 6U 60 HP case with limited modules, which I am sure you can vouch for :). The module doesn’t smell like something is damaged. Other modules in the case boot fine (NerdSeq, Arbhar, Plinky).
I tried a different power cable and boot with/without SD card but exhausted my options. I also tried to use it in the MakeNoise 4 Zone case, which is stable, clean and has four independent power zones. Same problem, now it just loads with a white screen and I am unable to have an occasional ‘reset’ boot. It almost seems the problem is getting worse. Back button goes green and then white. My serial is 0342, jumpers on the back are set to L/R.
Sounds like there may be a problem with the connection to the display. 4ms will help you get it sorted. You may get a quicker response if you message them from their site.
Yes, please email us! Sorry this is happening. We have seen a few units with a loose display cable. It’s easy to snap it back in place, you can do it yourself or we can do it for you. Email us and we’ll help you out. 4ms@4mscompany.com
I’m having the same issue about 50% of the time with the latest release (v 2.0.11). I’ve had it with other versions as well. I wrote to 4ms about it. Thank you!
I have the same issue and wrote to 4ms. Module serial is 0204, jumpers on the back are set to L/R too.
The screen was kind of glitching (very briefly) before upgrading the firmware, but now it fails to start 80% of times. Patches run normally, it’s just the screen. Tried intellijel, 4ms and ALM power, different cables, same results.
On my unit it was a problematic display ribbon cable. I forgot how to fix it, but it was very simple to do, just a matter of making sure it aligned properly with the little contacts… I am sure 4ms will explain how to do it, let’s hope they’re not closed for the holiday season :).
Thanks, 4ms have answered by email - so kudos to them! I am a bit anxious about the whole operation, but I am glad to read that this seems to fix the issue!
