Vca needed

I want to put together a MM patch with a couple different types of VCAs so I can have a dedicated VCA only patch. The Nano Alt and Venom VCA Mix 4 seem good, though they are similar. Are there others I should look at that you know of? Particularly one that have complementary functionality and would go good together?

I want for them to cascade so I can sum multiple channels together and output a single channel and need for them to be dc coupled.

Thanks for an recommendations!

I tend to use MI Veils for this, as it has a variable response curve.
(but also, partly because I have in hardware form, so know it well)

outside of that…
if I was creating a vca patch, Id probably include some ‘character’ options, ie. some with saturation, perhaps lpg.
perhaps code the patch up to allow switching between different ones.
basically, use the flexibility (and cpu ;)) of the MM.

(that or perhaps add some lfo/env options that could be internally routed.. again, make it a VCA+++)

Great ideas! I was thinking along the same lines. I don’t know anything about what you say about coding it up to be able to switch between various VCAs but that would be so ideal!!

How best to find out about the coding part? I have no experience with that. In fact, I didn’t even know that possibility existed.

You could use a Count Modula Switch 1-16 to route the input signal to the input of any of up to 16 VCAs, and then another one to route the CV to the same VCA. Make sure you set the Direction knobs on the Switches to “Voltage Addressed.” Then you can switch from one VCA to another using the ADDR control mapped to a MetaModule knob (or via CV input).

Wow! Great to have this guide. Thank you!!!

sorry, I meant patch
( I was taking a break from coding at the time, so my brain was still in that mindset)

yeah, you can use mixers/vcas/switches to bring certain elements in/out for both inputs and outputs.
I tend to use mixers/vcas in preference to switches, as these allow blending/ crossfading between functionality. then map to a knobs, so you can easily switch functionality.

The 4ms VCA matrix, of course!

It’s amazing but I don’t have nearly enough inputs on the MM!
