V2 Firmware MIDI to CV Utility (2 x channels) with MetaAIO Expander

This is a utility patch exploiting the new multi-MIDI channel input capability of the v2 MM firmware to turn the MM+MetaAIO into a 14-out MIDI to CV monster.

  • MIDI Channel 2 to V/O+Gate outputs, and 8 MIDI CC outs (ccs 1-8)
  • MIDI Channel 3 to V/O+Gate outputs and 4 MIDI CC outs (ccs 1-4)
  • Each CC is routed through an attenuverter, which is mapped to a knobset control.

Internal CV Path:

  • MIDI Channel 2 MIDI CCs 1-8 are mapped to 8 Venom KNOB controls, then to Befaco Atte modules then to MM+MetaAIO output sockets (MM3-8, MetaAIO 9-10)
  • MIDI Channel 3 MIDI CCs 1-4 are mapped to 4 Venom KNOB controls, then to Befaco Atte modules then to MM+MetaAIO output sockets (MetaAIO 13-16)
  • RackCore MIDI To CV (MIDI Channel 2) V/O+Gate mapped to MM output sockets 1-2
  • RackCore MIDI To CV (MIDI Channel 3) V/O+Gate mapped to MetaAIO output sockets 11-12.

Plugins Needed:

Needs Venom, RackCore and Befaco plugins to be installed. Uses 36% CPU at 48kHz/256.

The patch was first built in VCVRack for the knobsets, but then had to be manually completed on the MM itself to add MIDI channel - specific CC knob mapping and V/o+gates using 2x
the MM - only RackCore plugin. Hopefully this will be improved in the future to enable a patch with multi MIDI channels to be built in VCVRack and transferred to MM.

I built this to control two Eurorack voices using MIDI generated from a customised version of Tim Exile’s Scapeshift generative Reaktor ensemble (which is why I used MIDI channels 2 & 3 from Scapeshift’s Bass and Lead engines).
