Updating to 2.1 failed

Hi,
Tried to update firmware to version 2.1.1
Error message saying “failed to load file…”
Since I don’t have a computer anymore, I uploaded the new firmware to my usb stick via my android tablet. I don’t this bug is related since it worked for version 2.08.
Thank you.
Update.
Tried with the sd card instead. Everything wrote into memory but failed to flash files.
Now it stays on a white screen after power cycle.
The question is: does the troubleshooting method work with an Android tablet?
Really need help. Thank you.
Denis.

I don’t know if the DFU USB method will work with a tablet. If you can run the Chrome browser on it, it’s worth trying (you’ll either see the MetaModule “STM Device in DFU Mode” device, or not). I tried searching for apps, and this one came up: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yatrim.stmdfuusb
But I have no idea if it will connect or not.

For the SD Card restore method, you would need to flash the SD Card somehow. So you need an Android app that can write an image to an SD Card. Just doing a quick search, it looks like EtchDroid or Pi SD Card Imager can do it?

One thing is that if you can get access to a computer long enough to create the restoration SD Card, you can take the card and use it without the computer. We also could send you a restoration card, but of course that will take at least a few days to ship.

Hey Dan
Thank you very much for your fast reply.
I’ll try this and let you know what is working.
Have a nice day.

Hi @danngreen
So I tried to use the website on my tablet with Chrome browser and it worked perfectly.
I had to reinstall the firmware via usb stick afterwards though, since the graphic assets were corrupted… maybe badly migrated to memory during my first update attempt ? But now, everything seems to work properly.
Thanks again for your kind support.
Denis.
