TRS Midi

Hi, I am new to the forum! I got my MM a few days ago and i am loving it!

This has most probably been asked loads of times (sorry if it has)
I was just wondering if there is anyway to connect TRS midi to the MM? I noticed that there is tx & rx pins on the back. I was wondering if i can use my midi break out module with the MM.

Again sorry if this has been asked before.

yes, you will need the trs to midi din adapter (i believe there are 3 different types, a b & c?), and then a midi din to usb adapter. this one works for me:

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new MM. I can’t find the post but I recall asking a long time ago about whether it would be possible to connect a midi breakout panel (in my case the ES SMB panel) to those pins and 4ms advised that it would not work. There is an upcoming expansion module that will provide Gate/MIDI/I2C connections, including MIDI TRS in/out jacks.

Would it be possible to simply connect some TRS jacks to the appropriate pins and have TRS MIDI capability?

No, the firmware would need to be updated to listen to a midi stream. Right now it only listens to USB MIDI.

Those are used for providing a console output during debugging.

Thanks for the link! :slightly_smiling_face: I will have to get one wile i wait for the midi expander to arrive! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks! :slightly_smiling_face:Thanks for letting me know! I have the ES TMB and it has two spare jacks on it. Would of been great if we could! I will be eagerly waiting for the expander! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for finding this post! :slightly_smiling_face: I need to learn how to search a bit better :joy: Makes sense that it would be used for debugging! :slightly_smiling_face:
