you are right, the expander cannot be attached in this position. I have a behringer go case, there is only 3 mm between the modules. At that price, I can’t understand why you would save on 20 mm cable length.
The module has to sit in this position, otherwise the cables won’t be long enough. It’s a pity really, I just hope the device works reliably.
I am thinking that a longer cable would negatively impact performance and could introduce noise since the core of the expander is an ADC/DAC.
I bought a 50cm ribbon for less than $6 delivered, and I suppose it is a bit hard for vendors to know individual rack design choices. Your next problem is larger, “I have no more spare room left in my case!” It is rock solid in performance to date
Good to hear a cable that long would work. I guess it would depend on the other modules on the case and the amount of interference they cause.
Nothing tested…yet. I bought the same cable, not for the MetaAIO but for the WiFi in case I become aware of the # of pin-outs used, and based on that can consider whether I can share WiFi between MMs with an available mechanical switch. Just component shopping and thinking about this marvelous thing at this stage.
The cable is long enough for most setups in which the expander is one row above or below MetaModule, but cases in which the two rows are angled differently could necessitate a longer cable. This photo shows the included cable.
I will measure the cable length, but only when I make the replacement, then we will know whether the constellation in my rack is unfavorable or the cable is still too short.
Indeed it does look long enough, sorry for the noise
If I place the modules next to each other, it looks similar for me. My recommendation would be to simply make the cable the same length as the power cable.
This is a jam that I did using my MetaModule rig. Sequencers, drums, horn synth (Geodesics Energy) were from the Metamodule. Other synth sound is Behringer Brains. Reverb provided by the Disting MK4. (JW DivSeq, Count Modula Trigger Seq 8 step, Orange Line Morph, Sickozell Clocker 2, Befaco Kick All, 4ms Drum)
I’ve just been using it in my small Intellijel 62hp Palette case in my gigging setup. Currently have it configured a 4x Plaits into Befaco STMIX controlled with the OXI One, and I have the outputs going into the Strymon Starlab.
Here’s a small snippet that’s not very exciting: Michael Berry on Instagram: "Getting ready for Electrowave! I'm excited to be performing in the Friday night concert with @ejrmmusic as Aperture. We're going to be one of the opening acts for @alias_zone, and it will be a great privilege for me. https://electrowavemusicfestival.org/"
This is my Modulargrid of the system: Intellijel 62HP Palette - Meta System Ambient - Eurorack Modular System from Karnblack on ModularGrid
I need to explore creating more patches on it. I really want to explore the Seaside Modular modules, but I need to update my firmware to the beta firmware for that. Hopefully I can get that done and figure it out before my next gig a week from today.
Welcome to the forum and cool to hear how you are using MM!
