Recording to disk

I’m overwhelmed with the module choices with MM, but there doesn’t seem to be a module to record audio to disk. VCV has a core module to do that and allows you to capture your performance, but it’s not ported.

Am I miss seeing something that is in the MM module set that will record?

I think there have been requests for 4ms Wav, but can’t remember if there was an official comment on that possibility

Meta module would be perfect to hold a couple of 4ms wav recorder modules.

you can use the sickosampler to record up to a minute. last i checked the bidoo canard module records over a minute but the mm will crash* if you go above 2 minutes or so (*also depends on how many plugins you’ve installed)

we could definitely use a dedicated wav recorder module that gives longer recording times. dan has mentioned before on creating something like this at some point.

Thx, I will have a look at it. I am not really looking to record longer samples but loops of 1-4 bars, where start and stop is triggered by cv, and the sample is automatically saved in a folder.

The idea of recording to disk a full session is still on my mind. 1-2 Minutes would be very short for a drone session.

One thing I do currently that works well is I setup up an ambient patch that generates its own music, but then add in a mixer, wire up the jacks and use that to mix other incoming audio, going to out3 and out4. Those then are patched into the final hardware mixer along with out1&2. The mixer operates independent of the ambient music generator. MM can handle all of it at high audio rates. Some of this is because I don’t have that much space in my traveling modular and there are jacks free on the MM. But it also makes me feel good that MM is giving its all.

If recording to disk is implemented, then all incoming audio, post mix, would be routed to the recorder, just as you do with VCV’s recorder.

With the new playback module, it would seem much of the disk IO routines are already in place and it would merely be a few more jacks and buttons to get recording going (I know, easier said than done : ) ).
