Quick question on I/O module cable length

Ideally would like to place it a couple of rows down - would this work?

My meta module ribbon expander cable only allows it to be either side or maybe one row up or down directly above or below meta module.

Just a thought too, I had my AIO expander randomly dropping and becoming unresponsive.

Reached out and Thomas suggested could be noise, I was skeptical but rerouted my ribbon cable and hey presto, no more dropping expander.

For clarification it was looped behing a Befaco Oneiroi, not sure if they are paticularly noisey, routed and looped it behind Meta Module and all is good, just a thought if planning to have a long run expander ribbon.

Thanks - good to know, think I’ll need to swap a few things around…

Any more revelations about the AIO ? Tried mine for the first time sending midi gate out, it fails. My cable length is 6 inches or so. Reasoned that these cables are made for high data rate’s with disk drives - higher than audio ? - and such a short length shouldn’t create termination ringing. Guess I’ll have to move things around. Will be painful.

AIO is not made for midi… it only supports cv. For midi transfert, we’ll have to wait for the trigger and gate expander… if I understood right. BtW, this topic is about the link ribbon cable length between the module and its expander(s).

Sorry for confusion - sending gate out via midi-cv. Question involves expander - I know. And since expander is issue, why not comment on whether termination of ribbon cable is correct ? Or how data from a hard drive vs audio rate pcm differs ? Midi-cv works on main output, not on expander out - already isolated. My weekend hobby is music, not pure data. Can do without the programmer vernacular.

The MMAIO can definitely send gate outputs. Try a test with the MM and MMAIO outside of a case to rule out the cable being affected by noise/crosstalk as the cause of your issue.
