i dont really do beats in my personal music, but still its just really fun to mess with them in vcv/mm! this one ended up reminding me of that great first album by nin.

runs about 75-80% at 48/64. maybe a little more room for some stereo panning effects. hopefully at some point that great trg module will allow you to turn off/on the steps within the mm.

knobs A-D in set 1 are the probability for the kick, bass, hat, snare sounds (set 2 knobs A-D are the mixer volumes for those drums). knobs E-D control volume/pitch respectively for a droney type section (i kind of dumped it in there just to see if the mm could handle it, and it did!). knob u is the kick pitch (i love that that 4ms hpf module can produce those dirty kick sounds just based off a gate signal!) knob v is the bass stab’s pitch, knob which effects the delay random amount on the hat, for a kind of autechre’y feel. knob y add some nice multiply for the bass/hat so you can get stuttering effect there.

example vid:

note that there’s an issue with the macro oscillator where on the mm it is an octave lower

I like that! Good patch.

I had no idea that sending S&H into the Color input of the Flute model of Braids (aka Macro Oscillator) could transform the sound with such great harmonic glitches, so thanks for showing me that.

glad you are digging it! i definitely kind stumbled on that flute one by accident. its a really cool/weird tonal thing i love it. makes me kind of want to go through all the models in that module to see if there are any other sort of easter egg behaviors hiding out in there
