Offset, Rage masks, etc. Knobs Powerups for Knobcon!

First,
I am going to be using the Metamodule for a very central part of my performance at Knobcon next week. :slight_smile: MM is hosting a large FM bank of oscs that I am running my violin through-. Hopefully I will get to see you at 3:30 in the Chill out room [ Manweiler ]

But… feature request.

I do a lot of knob mapping where I am trying to map more than one function to a knob. Sometime I am having to run though multiple control voltage processors, but I think this could be easily solved with a bit of code. In VCV rack, when i right click I only get options for min and max.

It would be lovely to add a few more options and constraints to the data that is sent and assigned from knobs.

1- having some different math curves of course would be welcome.
2- having a mask to “ignore this part of the knob” before going to the % assign we already have mapping would make the 12 knobs we do have much more powerful!

In this hypothetical situation
Knob A is mapped to 3 locations, with overlap between 50-75% on the last 2 mappings.

mapping 1
follows full range
0-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------100
full range.
0-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------100

mapping 2
knob mask ignores 0-50% full range.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 50-----------------------------------------100
then outputs full range in that constraint
0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0--------------------------------------------100

mapping mask 3 ignore 75%-100%
0-----------------------------------------------------------75 xxxxxxxxxxxx 100

then follows full range in that constraint.

or if we apply the existing constraints of say 20% to 80%

I’m sad I’ll miss KnobCon, the lineup looks awesome.

But, yeah I understand what you mean about the advanced knob responses.
I have some ideas of how to do that… originally we had intended to let you pick a response curve (like linear, expo, log). Adding a “mask” option is a nice idea too, just needs a clear name like “response range” or something.

Well, If all goes to plan I will stop by and chat at NAMM/ B&F this year. My last time there was when you had Just announced the metamodule- and I was very excited… to put it mildly.
