Needs more drum modules!

Who makes good VCV drum modules? Be good to see who might bring stuff to the platform as it’s an area where things are a bit lacking at the moment.

Hang on - do I remember correctly that Vult are planning to port modules?

If so they have some decent drum modules, and ones I’d gladly pay for too.

Plenty in there - which are the good ones?

As far as current compatibility with metamodule, Plaits has decent drum sounds, especially if you use the internal routing to send the LPG envelope to FM and the other parameters. I like 4ms Djembe, but the regular drum one I’m finding difficult to dial in the sounds I’d like. There’s also Kickall from Befaco. So far I’m been making my own drum synths with Percall, Noise Plethora, Bog Audio Additator (I like weird additive sounds), etc.

More would be great though. I’d love to see something like Modbap’s Trinity with multiple engines and a wide range of sounds.

+1 for any/all drums with accents please. but yeah @exper is right we can make due. However there’s a LOT of good shit on VCV rack that would be freaking dope to “recruit” into Meta. Maybe @danngreen you could have a community suggestion of future modules that can give you an idea of what to headhunt/recruit into the system (or you convert for the maker who gives you permission to convert it/sell it). and we could vote on which ones to do first or whatever. So far so good.

Thanks! All good suggestions!

hopefully we can see something like prototype in MM at some point, one could create any plethora of synth percussion sounds (i have a lot of prototype creations id love to eventually share)

I must confess that the 4ms Drum module is a bit of a headscratcher for me here.

Unless I am too stupid to use it, this appears to be a Drum module without an amplitude envelope, which is a first for me. It has envelopes for everything else.

No matter how I tweak it, I end up with a tone that runs for about half a second after the hit. This means that if you have a rapid succession of gates, the tone is continuous and sounds like a quarter-open LPG.

Therefore, I have to further envelope the module to use it (fortunately, Vult will be bringing his envelopes to the table soon, which are really snappy).

What am I missing? (I expect everything will become clear when a manual emerges for the modules).

Have to say I’m loving using Noise Plethora for drums. I recommend using the 4ms CV source to control the program changes though as doesn’t seem to work with standard knob assignment.

4ms EnVCA great for shaping too.
