For me, I would add all of Sapphire and JP.
- Erica Synths - in particular Wavetable VCO (which is no longer in production)
- JW modules
- ALM Busy Circuits modules
- Jasmine & Olive Trees - Traffic
I’m holding off on the 2.0 firmware, but I really want to see sampling modules. I’ve had an ALM Squid Salmple for a while, but the buttons started going bad, and the screen has burned-in characters, so it can be hard to read. Almost want to buy a new one, at least to have a fresh warranty, but if the Sickozell modules work well, I might hold off and use Metamodule for my sampled drums and loops.
But also, yeah, I’d love to see ALM make their modules available on Meta, even if that was an extra cost.
Erica modules would be really cool! Anybody else have modules to add?
i really need Mind Meld mixers as i’ve been using them since the day i first touched VCV
@danngreen So, are there any plans to encourage more developers to support the MM platform?
The best way to encourage developers to support the platform is by building a solid, stable API that has all the features they need. You can see some of the work that Dan is doing to that end here.
Basically this. Plus more clear documentation. Just making it as easy as possible to use, and adding in the features people want (within reason).
Once the SDK 2.0 is out, I would like to see some tutorials, maybe even youtube/twitch-style series, like “How to port a VCV plugin to MetaModule”, and “How to make a MetaModule plugin from scratch”.

It is a bit pointless to merely post “wish lists”, especially if they include premium plugins in VCV, closed source, and/or not technologically compatible with the MM. I do applaud those folks who have diplomatically approached companies & developers to see if there is an interest in making their modules available, and especially those who have undertaken work to port open source plugins to the platform.
I think some of the folks clamoring for plug-ins from hardware companies such as Erica, Vult, Jasmine & Olive and ALM need to take a step back and understand that the MM is an open source platform. Even with all the huge technological improvements in the MM firmware, there are going to be entities that are going to be wary or dismissive of making their IP available for the MM framework or building standalone frameworks for purchases of their plug-ins.
With respect to Synthesis Technology, 4ms did approach them about making its modules available (especially the hardware modules that have been discontinued) and were informed that the company had an exclusivity agreement with VCV that prevents them from doing so.
Vult announced they were working on porting theirs pretty much as soon as MM was released, haven’t heard anything recently.
I do not think it is wasteful or pointless to do so. At least, we learn more of other modules out there. As to Jasmine & Olive Trees, I think they are really nice people and the possibility is there, after all - its already available as free module in VCV.
The long-term goal as an open platform with MM should be one that is an organic ecosystem, with many developers willing to come on board and advance users helping others out. A thriving community, that’s my hope.
I have approached at least three and have shared the info here. Two have been open to the idea. One was a hard no. It never hurts to ask. Wish lists are helpful in demonstrating interest to devs visiting the forum. Perhaps they see the value of MM and may decide to port at some point, especially as the SDK improves.
Maybe if there was incentive for doing so. I for one would be willing to pay for “premium” modules but I’m sure there are many obstacles to implementing licensing etc.
I suggested some type of crowdfunding but that idea was shot down: Crowdfunding for App Development
