Hey guys just like the title says i am trying to figure out how to change modes on metas mutable clouds plugin. On VCV the plugin interface and params are a bit different than on meta. I was wondering if anyone knows how to switch modes as i have a knob set to mode in vcv but when i turn the know it is not changing the modes for me and when i go into plugin manually on meta it does not show modes as a parameter? a bit confused here. Its probably something stupid but i cant seem to figure it out. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks everyone.
I’m assuming you mean the alternate modes (Pitch Shifter/Time Stretcher, Looping Delay, and Spectral madness). I agree that there doesn’t appear a way to access these on MM, and what I find further confusing is there’s a CV mode button in MM that doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the original or VCV modules. @danngreen or someone else, any comments or insight?
At the bottom of the parameters menu on the MM Clouds there’s an “Options” section — click on the > > >
and you’ll get to a submenu that allows you to select the alternate modes.
@gabrielroth, Below is a screen shot of the end of the parameters/jacks list for the module, I’m running current v1.6.9 OS and the 1.6.0 Fundamentals plugin. I’ve seen options available for other modules, but not this one.
Huh! It’s definitely present on mine — I’m using the development firmware. Maybe it was only introduced on that branch, I can’t remember.
That would make sense give all of the other UI enhancements talked about, I tend to stay away from dev & beta releases personally, but that’s just me. Looking forward to when the official 2.0 release happens.
Also realized after I posted that I referred to the fundamentals, but the Cloned stuff is part of the OS release.
The Clouds in VCV is different than the Clouds in MM:
- The VCV version has a button called “Mode” which lets you pick the functionality of the Blend knob and Blend CV jack. These modes are Dry/Wet, Spread, Feedback, Reverb.
- The MM version has a separate knob for each of these features, so you can control and map them more easily. The “Mode” button the VCV version is called “CV Jack Mode” on MM because it just changes the functionality of the Blend CV jack (not of the knob).
In VCV, the “Alternate Mode” (Granular, Pitch Shifter, Looping delay, Spectral Madness) is changed by a right-click menu option. These right-click menus are not supported in v1.6.9 firmware, but they will be in v2.0 (and already are in the v2.0-dev firmware). So you can’t change this mode from within MM on firmware v1.x.
If you change the mode in VCV and then transfer the patch to the MM, then it should play the right mode.
oh ok great. so In 2.0 should we be able to change mode without a problem you are saying or at least when official 2.0 FW drops we should be able to? hopefully i understood you right. Until then just make sure to choose which mode you want for blend knob prior to importing to MM
You can already use the different modes for the blend knob and blend CV in all firmware versions. If you look at the faceplate on the MetaModule version you can see that the four modes are actually four different knobs (bottom row of knobs): Dry/Wet, Spread, Reverb, Feedback.
The “Mode” button on the VCV version has been moved to the bottom right on the MM version.
The thing that’s new in v2.0 is that you can select the other kind of Mode, the “Alternative Mode” (Granular, Pitch Shift etc).
oh ok got ya that makes sense thanks for the help i appreciate it.
