I’m not really sure of the term for this because I am somewhat new to modular synthesis but I’m looking for a module/plugin I can use in my Metamodule to control the gain via an envelope. My setup looks like this:
Instruo csL [ Hardware ] → Metamodule Audio In → 4ms Complex Env [ Metamodule ] → now I need some kind of mixer/gain control to apply the envelope right? What would I use here? → Metamodule Audio Out

You’d use a VCA for that.
This is called a vca. You put the audio from the csl in the vca, the envelope into the CV in of the vca and put a cable from out of the vca to whatever of your audio chain. And of course, you’ll need something to trig the envelope
. Some envelope generators have a vca built-in.
Thank you! I have a CV gate coming from my MIDI note through my Zoia to trig the Envelope so I think that should work. I’m not familiar with a VCA so this is helpful. I will look into it.
Just to elaborate on my brief post-
VCA is voltage controlled amplifier, which is often a misnomer because most of them don’t amplify, they cut.
You use one whenever you want to add dynamics to a signal- you could think of it as a voltage controlled volume knob. Since most oscillators are always on, this is what lets the shape of an envelope control the level of the sound.
They aren’t only for audio, you can pass control voltage (envelope, LFO, etc) through them too.
