Modal Synthesizer super high pitched V/Oc input

I get a very high pitched v/oct input on Modal Synthesizer (Elements clone). So when I create a patch in VCV involving MS and transfer it to MM - the pitch of MS is extremely high.

I’m also having similar issues. Loading a VCV Rack VCO I hear C3 from the module with no input. But when I attach a cable to Input 1 it immediately jumps to C5. When I send pitch info from my Torso T-1 the Torso says it’s sending C3 but the incoming pitch is C5 (and relative pitches above and below as I move the pitch in the T1).

I’ve also tried using Push3 to send CV info via the outputs but again I can’t get the MM to calibrate. I had thought it was user error for the Push as it’s a new workflow for me, but I’m surprised that the T-1 is also having problems.

check the voltage you are sending into v/oct… is it 0v?
as v/oct is always relative, not a specific pitch.
so this voltage input will highlight where the issue is.

as for midi input ,
bare in mind there are multiple standards for what C3 C4 represent.
e.g.
Roland C4 = midi note 60 = 0v (by vcv midi module)
Yamaha C3 = midi note 60 = 0v (by vcv midi module)

then to add more confusion, whilst most euroracks use midi note 60 (mid C) for 0v, but some will use mn 69 (a440) for 0v…
that said, vcv standardised on mn 60 = 0v, so should not be an issue.

There is indeed a difference in pitch though at least on v1.4 it’s about a fifth. The reason is that the resampling is skipped on MM in order to use less CPU. It’s not supposed to change the pitch, though and I see now why… I’ll try to fix that

Checking the implementation on T1, it’s sending 0-5V, with 0V corresponding to C3 note. On Push 3 it’s sending 0-10V out of the CV port.

So should I use a Fundamental Rescale device in front of a VCO to offset the incoming CV? Or tune the Frequency of the VCO?

The CV Tools in Live are a little frustrating. To get it to work with MM I need to set the CV output to “+” range (I guess because 0-10V) and then the automated calibration within the device works for C3 upwards. If I try setting it to “+/-” calibration doesn’t work at all. I’ll need to try with the Rescale device to see what I happens with calibration. Sorry - this may not be a bug after all, but it has been driving me round the bend trying to figure out how to integrate the MM with other devices outside of a Eurorack context.

I just added a resampler in v1.4.2, so lots of Mutable clones now keep a constant pitch when the sample rate is changed

Hi, sorry it’s off topic but can you point me to some tutorial how to hook up torso t1 to MM using usb midi? I can’t get it going, and you have had evidently some success doing it. Cheers!

i don’t believe there is a specific step by step tutorial about hooking up a torso t1 to mm. i dont have a torso but i glanced at the specs online, looks like you could hook up the gate/cv outs on torso to inputs on the mm. or another idea: you could use the trs-midi outs on the torso and, if you have a usb-mididin adapter like this one (which ive verified works great with mm), you can run the trs midi from the torso into the usb midi adapter, into the mm (using the usb-c to a adapter that came in the box with the mm).
