After successfully updating to the latest firmware (not the beta), the module is hanging upon start-up, displaying the ‘Loading Modules’ legend. All controls are frozen. I didn’t update any plugins, having done this firmware update fresh out the box, and there is no sd card in the front slot.
I’m stumped. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks
Did the MM start up normally before you did the update? The MM displays an error message if it can’t find the card to load the modules. It shouldn’t hang, though. I’d try again with the SD card in the slot. There is a backdoor route for installing the firmware via USB, but you might want to wait until you’ve heard back from Dan @4MS. The relevant thread to doing this is here:
Thank you @Daitheharp. I tried the solution outlined above, but no change.
Yeah, it was starting fine. I wonder if I might be missing something to do with the modules being on the sd card. At the moment, there is nothing actually on my card.
Aha. You’ll need to download all the third-party plugins from the Plugins section of MM info and then transfer the .mmplugin files to the SD card. But I’m not sure that’ll solve the problem with the module freezing.
Going back to when you installed the module in your case, did you try powering up with the SD card in place just to make sure it was working? Presumably you then put the metamodule-firmware folder for v1.3.1 on the SD card, got a Success! message after the update had completed, took out the SD card and then rebooted, following which the MM froze on module loading.
Failures to reboot after firmware updates are often because of something getting corrupted, which is where the backdoor update via USB comes in. I’ve done this myself after installing what turned out to be a faulty beta and it’s fairly painless.
Okey doke. I have now downloaded and loaded the plugins onto the SD card. You were correct, that didn’t resolve the problem.
I actually didn’t have the SD card in at first. I just powered it on, loaded an internal module, checked it was working, and then downloaded the latest firmware and installed it via the USB slot. I did get a Success! message. I then removed the cable and power cycled.
I have now tried the backdoor install a couple of times, with different firmwares, and still no change. I’m sure 4MS will get back to my e-mail as and when they can.
