Make scroll knob able to scroll backwards through list of params & modules

when zooming into a module, it would be nice to be able to turn the scroll knob left and have it scroll backwards up through the list of params. this would be especially useful for reaching the module’s advanced options quickly (i.e. loading samples in the sampler) without having to scroll right/down all the way through all the modules’ params first.

this would also be useful for when selecting modules, both in the brands list and in the modules list (i.e airwindows takes forever to scroll down to reach the latter letters)

or @danngreen would it be possible to have the options: >> show up at the top above params/jacks list instead of having to scroll through everything? this is especially painful with sickPlayer/Sampler as there are a whole lot of params. would be really helpful during live sets where you want to play through a bunch of samples

Yeah it could show up at the top. I considered putting it in the top button-bar menu, too, though space is a little tight there with the full-screen button.

I like being able to spin the rotary fast to get to the bottom (e.g. skip past all the knobs and go to the jacks). If it wrapped around to the top, we would lose that.

i do really appreciate the quick knob turn acceleration thing! and i know the wrapping frustration you mention, the overscrolling happens to me on the patch module view screen sometimes.

i wonder if there would be a way to implement a stop at the end of the list if the user is speed scrolling down there. so if the user is fast scrolling to the end, it stops them, and locks on the last item until they finish turning the knob for .5 seconds, and then after that time period, if the user turns the knob again it would then wrap around. instead of just racing around.

anyway, maybe not worth all the time to code all that? i think just having the options at the top would remedy since, during a live set, users aren’t (most likely) going to be live patching(i.e. needing to scroll way down to the end to access the jacks)… but loading samples is definitely something a user would need to do a lot during a set imo.

Right, that’s a good point. Up until we had modules that load samples via the Options menu, the menu was one of the least likely things to want to enter during a live set. I’ll play with putting it in the button bar, too. Might make sense there (and would be at the top).

If you put it in the top bar please put it at the far end so a quick turn of the knob in the opposite direction to today lands you there immediately. A quick turn in any direction is infinitely better than a fiddly selection in the middle of a list of things when performing live
