Lost in... midi polyphony

Hi everyone, hi @danngreen

Regarding the new polyphony feature I try to make it happen on plaits clone but I can’t figure out how to do so.

I tried to map a midi to cv rackcore :

- v/oct into v/oct

- gate into level

- set rackcore polyphony to 3

I don’t get polyphony and when I change the note on my keyboard they are effective every 3 press of a key (I guess it as to do with having set the polyphony to 3)

I tried to patch several rackcore midi to CV into v/oct of plaits and set the same midi channel and same number of polyphony but it doesn’t work.

I also found out some strange behavior.

I tried to patch rackcore velocity out into level of plaits (with also the gate out of rackcore to level : I know it’s silly lol)

But when I disconnect the velocity out, the gate out of rackcore is ignored and I have a continuous sound from plaits.

I have to unpatch the gate out and patch it again to make it respond to gate out.

Is that a normal behavior?

Thanks for your help !

Are you using the correct version of the firmware? Polyphony is only working on a specific branch at the moment. This is the one you want: Release Firmware Version: firmware-v2.1.99-poly006 · 4ms/metamodule · GitHub

Also I think it’s still the case that you have to create the MIDI>CV module on Meta rather than VCV to get polyphony. This might have been fixed in the current firmware but if you’ve been exporting from VCV it would be worth trying a simple patch starting from scratch on the Meta.

I can’t speak to your use case but the Level input on Plaits is a little confusing, it’s not a VCA. I usually patch a gate to the Trigger input.

Thanks Gabriel for your feedback

I’m sorry I thought FW 2.1.17 allowed polyphony.

I’ll also try to reproduce the behavior on another VCO
