Is there a way to map a knob to more than 7 parameters from VCV rack to the meta module?

I have some use cases where I might want a knob to control 16 attenuators globally, but it seems like I can only map a max of 7 params on VCV Rack at a time,.

From the manual: “A single physical knob can be mapped to up to eight virtual knobs. This is known as a “multi-map”. As you turn the physical knob, all the mapped virtual knobs will turn. Each virtual knob can have different minimum and maximum values. In this way, mulit-maps allow the MetaModule to act like a macro controller.”

there’s definitely been several times when i think it would have been useful to map more than 8

Maybe @danngreen can add that as a future feature.

Wow, really? I thought 8 was a lot…

So, is 16 enough? Or just remove any kind of limit?

I haven’t thought this all the way through, but the first thing that comes to mind is we would need to change how maps are displayed on VCV – it’s squares in 2x4 grid right now. Maybe just show “+” over the grid if there are more than 8 (so they don’t totally cover the knob).

Ideally, it’s limitless. I ran into this issue simply trying create a macro attenuation knob for Let’s Splosh, which has 16 outputs already, it would be great for even more.
