NOTE: FOR THIS PATCH TO WORK YOU MUST LOAD THE INCLUDED GUHZENG.WAV FILE ONTO YOUR SD CARD AND LOAD IT INTO THE SICKOSAMPLER. SAVE THE YML FILE AFTER LOADING SO THAT YOU DON’T HAVE TO RELOAD THE SAMPLE NEXT TIME YOU OPEN IT. YOU ALSO NEED TO PUSH THE PLAY BUTTON ON SICKOSAMPLER AFTER LOADING THE SAMPLE.

External Audio Path:

-Main audio outputs on ch. 1 and 2

Internal Audio Path:

-The Guhzeng sample is being played by the sickSampler
-SickoSampler is fed into the Texture Synthesizer for granular effects
-The Texture Synthesizer runs into a PEQ6 6 band fixed filter bank for spectral mixing.
-The PEQ6 is fed into a DLD for sound on sound looping
-The DLD is then fed into a stereo delay line, with the left and right channels set to different times.
-The output of the delays are fed into a plateau reverb
-The plateau reverb is then sent to an attenuator for final volume amount

Internal CV Path:

-A 1v offset is fed into an octave module for controlling the pitch of the sample and the Texture Synthesizer. This is so that the pitch remains consistent with a doubling and halving of the base frequency.

Metamodule Knob Mapping:

A - PEQ6 Band 1 amplitude
B - PEQ6 Band 2 amplitude
C - PEQ6 Band 3 amplitude
D - PEQ6 Band 4 amplitude
E - PEQ6 Band 5 amplitude
F - PEQ6 Band 6 amplitude
U - Octave
V - DLD Feedback
W - DLD Delay Feed
X - DLD Dry/Wet
Y - Reverb Dry/Wet
Z - Master Volume

altered a bit a running my guitar through it (just patched In1 on the mm input 1/2 on clouds). sounds great and is a lot of fun to play live into!

runs at 32khz btw

Sounds great, it would be helpful in the patch notes to suggest the sample rate and block size to use. In general are most people running 32kHz to maximize plugin count while keeping sample rates ok or are there certain plugins that only sound good at higher sample rates?

@offthesky did you just add a META input directly to the Sampler input(s)? or did you also add another preapmp module?

I had tried something similar a while ago but my signal was super weak.

then my next issues were I couldn’t get the sampler to stop recording, and it would just endlessly record then glitch. but I didn’t look super hard into what I was doing wrong.

Upload your patch if you don’t mind and I can try to learn what you did right!

i used the airwindows bit shift gain module to boost mm inputs 1/2, and then the cvmix module in the fundamental plugin to mix the outputs of the bit shift gain that my guitar/keyboard ran through, and also the sampler (just the left out) into the cvmix, and then the cvmix out into the inputs of clouds.

i just did all that on the mm. ill upload the yml tomorrow

it’s been requested to have the buffer/rates adjust per patch settings so we don’t have to manually do it with each patch. hopefully we see that useful feature soonish!

Ah nice, that would definitely be helpful.

my external input mod:

Guzheng Wash - External Input.vcv (3.8 KB)
Guzheng Wash - Ext In.yml (17.3 KB)

i run it at 32khz/ 512buff, but im sure lower buffers would work too

Ah, cool! So you’re mixing in your external source, and not sampling the external, right?

I really want to figure out a way to do live sampling with MM, but haven’t really been successful with record and stop functions. There are some modules that I think kinda do it automatically with an auto resetting loop: VoxGlitch Satanonaut, and NOI Pruners? but if anyone has has success with a live loop/sample let me know! (or perhaps all that processing is super heavy for MM, and it’s best to just get a dedicated module for that…)

PS, I’m looking back at the patch after posting, If I just engage the hold function on DLD that may actually do what I’m looking for? (can’t wait to get some time and try!)

the bidoo canard module can do live sampling you might look into that one

here’s an example of a more extreme use of it:

Ohhh! Ya, I tried the canard, I’ll dig into this patch of yours to get a grip, thanks!!!

How do we load samples into this? Some modules have menu settings at the bottom of the parameters, but not this one…

You have to scroll down to the bottom of the list of parameters in sicko sampler to where it says Options >>> then “load sample”

Thanks, I’m a dummy- just needed one more click of the knob and I would have seen it.
