On the recent beta’a i’ve had a couple of instances where I’ve added plugins, or performed some submenu operation and the gui has crashed, but the sound engine still works. Unfortunately I can’t yet narrow it down to what exactly caused it. but I just thought I’d flag it here incase others see it too.
is the sound from the patch playing correctly while the gui is frozen or is it more of a stuck buffer sound? typically when i get crashes, it’s a stuck buffer (which is only noticeable if i actually had sound emitting from the patch to begin with).
Everything still works totally correctly, responds to midi and cv input. I’ve had hard crashes before with a stuck buffer but in this case it just seems to be the GUI locking up and nothing else. My modules do have some text displays in them, which obviously are new 2.0 stuff, but nothing else funny going on really and I didn’t see this happening before the last few beta versions and i’ve been running them for a while.
What version are you on? I had that problem previously but it disappeared since I moved to 12.10+ versions:
I’m on the absolute bleeding edge of v2.0-dev which I’m building from source (so 1 commit ahead of 12.11 currently)
I know @danngreen made some changes to graphics as of 12.05. Perhaps he can comment on this.
Yeah, I’m still re-doing the graphics, in the mean time there are some crashes from the GUI (which is why the audio continues).
The release v2.0-dev-13 will have this new stuff, which is a much better approach than in dev-12. It’s on the all-dyn-draw branch if you want to be even more bleeding edge than latest v2.0-dev
As of today, I think it’s fairly stable (I tested every module with a graphic screen in the official plugins)
Nice one Dan. I’ll give that a test tomorrow. As always thanks for all your amazing work on the metamodule!
