Hi, anyone else having challenges saving from the Meta virtual module in VCV Rack to the .yml format? When I click the red button the virtual module, it doesn’t save the file. Just wondering if others discovered this as well? Thanks!
All good here. On a Mac M1.
thanks, does the file download somewhere on the computer? Just trying to figure things out, I also updated to latest version of VCV Rack. It’s just the red button that seems to not do anything when trying to save a patch. Tried this on two different Macs.
You can export it to wherever you like.
thanks, I’m going to try on a third computer
On windows, when i click save (after giving it a name and description) a dialog box pops up and im able to save the file wherever I want.
thanks, I guess in my guess the dialogue window never opens. So far, I have been creating patches just from the physical Meta and it’s still a blast!
What operating system are you running VCV Rack on?
Mac OS, 12.2.1 is what I am using
thanks, I am going to look into it, is there any chance you could upload a .yml file in addition to the vcv file in your Patch Storage Plaits patch? I would love to try it out!
Curious, it works on another patch, but on your 4-poly is says my VCV Rack is missing Fundamental Mult and Mix 8, so maybe the issue the whole time was that VCV Rack wouldn’t save if a module was missing…
I think this is the solution, if a module is missing in VCV Rack, it won’t allow you to save the patch.
No, you can still save a patch if it has modules that are missing. Did you also post on github or was that someone else?
Hi, that wasn’t me on Github. Any patch I make from scratch allows me to do a save from the virtual Meta module. It just seems like I can’t save InvictusHiFi’s patch called 4-Poly-Plaits-All-CV-and-CC-66cc8f17e9723 on Patchstorage.
just tried 4-Poly-Plaits-All-CV-and-CC-66cc8f17e9723.vcv and indeed the save button does not open the save .yml window. it was uploaded to ps a week ago and a lot has changed since, so there’s that
also… might be a cool edition to this forum if we could include .yml or .vcv attachments- getting help on building things better, community jams, or for instances like this issue.
Ok, then that’s two people who are having that issue. Hmmm I have an idea… stay tuned…
It’s only on certain patches from Patch Storage, Rising-Tides-lift-all-boats-66cca2edb3453 allows you to save on Meta, and FOURBRAIDS-LFO-PLATEAU-66d32672afa5c does not allow a save…curious
I finally had this happen with the same patches. What I had to do was change the VCV Output Module(?) to my speakers and then the red button allowed me to save the patch to a .yml file.
Not sure if you just need to change that particular patch for the save as prompt to show up, or if it was the VCV Output Module that ‘fixed’ things.
I think this is fixed in v2.0.6
I could never reproduce it, but I re-did the save button code and made it more streamlined as to when the Save dialog should pop up.
