Does SD need to formatted before using?

Hi guys just got meta module and am wondering if we need to format the SD card prior to using to fat32?

The card that came with my module was already formatted as FAT32. I checked it before I started to save items to the card from my laptop (a MacBook) and then used it in the MetaModule.

I am curious as to whether the module requires FAT32 or whether it will work with ExFat as well. Microsoft tries to hide FAT32 as a formatting option in Windows 11. It will be interesting to see how the card is utilized for sample playback and recording when that capability is implemented. There are utilities that can be used to optimize the formatting of the card for sample playback.
