Am I not supposed to update to 2.1.16 if I have a older Wifi expander? Just not 100% clear on that.

As far as I understand it just means don’t update Wi-Fi expander, in effect there is no Wi-Fi expander update.
Unless of course you have never updated and have the original Wi-Fi firmware below the current version of 1.0.4.
From what I understand if you reflash Wi-Fi firmware you have to set it up again even if the firmware wasn’t an actual update.
It’s fine to update Meta Module to Firmware 2.1.16, again as far as I understand unless you tell it to update Wi-Fi expander if there is no incremental Wi-fi update included it will ignore it.
