It would be great if wireless MIDI controllers or sequencers could be used with the Metamodule through Bluetooth using the Wifi Expander.
it would be cool! interestingly, it seems the wifi expander could maybe support this:
guesing @danngreen would know fully whether or not its even possible.
From a hardware perspective, it’s possible, though we had no plans to support Bluetooth MIDI in the near future. Though… could happen someday?
Or even RTP-MIDI ?
I’d love rtp-midi, though I have to admit, (outside of apple devices), Ive had a nightmare of a time with it.
at one time, I had a host of rtp midi enabled devices (mostly linux based instruments/eurorack modules), and also an iConnectivity mioXM.
I dreamed of getting rid of a lot of wires and/or replacing with ethernet.
but, every time I turned them on, there’d be issues with them rediscovering, reconnecting.
the only devices reliable were the iPads/Macs, everything was a pain in the a**
its still a dream, I do think ethernet for high bandwidth/low latency midi IS the future.
though, my main hope now is on midi 2.0 delivering this, as part of an official standard.
ive tried using rtpmidi between ios>window, as well as ios>linux and it was quite dodgy/disconnecty
