I wish there was a way to have a setting that says ‘always put output to 7&8 or 1&2’
As a newb to VCV and the Meta module, im having to dive around to figure out where sound should be coming out of.
This isn’t a ‘feature request’ as its more of a patch-maker-request. My first hour of trying other people’s patches and the built in ones had me trying to figure out where I should be patching the output from. I know I can look at knobs and then patch cables, but wouldn’t be really an issue if we could all agree on which ports to use for mono/stereo out?
i had this issue as well at one point. i think it would be very useful the community, when people post their amazing .vcv/.yml creations, to also give generous descriptions, both in the info section of the metamodule in vcv, and also on the pages they post the patch, as to what physical inputs/outputs are in use (and what they’re intended for), if the patch requires a midi keyboard or knobs, the ideal system buffer settings, and maybe their tips/thoughts on the best ways to get the most out of the patch.
@danngreen for MetaModule 2, maybe have lights on the outputs so we can visually see that there’s something attempting to come out of those ports.
If the patch doesn’t have any notes and you can’t figure out which ones are the outputs, you can go to the Jack View page it’ll list exactly what jacks have outputs and what the output is.
@danngreen yeah, thats how i figured things out. still was quite a mess when you look at the patches shared already. Some used 1 & 2, others didnt… just got a little confusing and kept me having to go back to knobs->Jacks just to check out other people’s ideas. Then, when switching to another patch had to go back to that same page. It got a little frustrating.
