Hey folks! My name is Sarah Belle Reid, I’m a musician & educator who combines modular synths with trumpet, voice, and other electronic instruments. I’ve been getting to know the MetaModule over the last few months and wanted to share a few patches here in case anyone’s curious to try them out:
-
SBR Time Lag Accumulation: this is a simple delay-based patch that is inspired by the technique of “time lag accumulation” that was popularized and explored by early tape music/electronic composers like Brian Eno, Pauline Oliveros, Robert Fripp (Frippertronics) - it uses a long delay line with a lot of feedback to create unsynchronized loops and patterns that build on one another over time. The patch is intended to be interacted with using an external controller (0-Ctrl, or Arturia Keystep, etc.) to send V/Oct Pitch and Gate information over to the VCO and ADSR envelope. I recommend playing around with the ADSR shape (attack and decay are mapped to the big yellow and blue knobs on MM). The final output from the Plateau reverb is patched into hardware outs 1 and 2 on MM.
-
SBR Simple Melodic Seq: This is a melodic sequence-based patch where you can control the sequence length to create different patterns (using the big red knob on MM), as well as the filter cutoff on 2 voices - the main melodic voice, and a bass oscillator drone. No external controller needed! The final outs from Plateau go to MM outs 1 and 2.
-
SBR Weird Filter Chaos: this is a chaotic feedback-based patch that uses one oscillator as the input to a sample and hold, and another oscillator as the gate source for a sample and hold; and the output from the Sample and Hold is used to modulate different parameters of the oscillators (FM, sync) as well as a filter. This one is noisy!
It can be fun to switch to different filter modes as well (it defaults to LP but try BP, etc). Final out goes to MM hardware out 1.
Here’s a link to all 3 patches.
These are just some early explorations but I wanted to share what I’ve been up to, and chime in to introduce myself here and say hello.
Hope you enjoy!
Also - I’ve been working on a video about MetaModule, sharing some of my early explorations with the instrument, that includes these patches and a bunch of others. I’m planning on sharing it most likely toward the end of this week. Happy patching ![]()
