Noob question. How do I install this in VCV Rack. I copied it to the plugins-mac-arm64 folder but it doesn’t appear to be loading into the plugin browser.
Hmm … that should be doing it (assuming you’re on an M-series Mac). Anyone else have any ideas?
It’s always worked for me on m4 mac. I have to remember to restart VCV Rack of course.

As foreshadowed in this thread, Particules has been split into three separate modules:
- Particules is the classic Beads-style granular synthesizer
- Retours is the Delay mode (with better pitch tracking and no more artifacts on the TIME knob)
- Ondes is the Wavetable mode, broken out into a handy little utility oscillator.
(Why would you use Ondes when both Plaits and the VCV WT VCO are right there? No real reason, but it’s lightweight and it keeps the promise of a full Beads adaptation alive.)
The code is a lot easier to manage now, and I think the three-device approach is a better fit for the MetaModule, where you can have as many modules as you like and there’s enough cognitive load without adding mode shifts to the picture. But be warned: If you’ve got any patches using the Delay or Wavetable modes in Particules, this will break them. (I don’t think it’ll break patches without those modes but we’re still in beta so no promises.)

Hi. I’ve been enjoying Particules, great work! It’s very true to the original.
The beta 7 windows vcv plugin is still the beta 6 version after i installed it. I tried removing the entire Particules folder from the plugin folder and reinstalling beta 7 from scratch, but still get beta 6, so it might be the same build?

Huh, I can’t test that because I don’t have a Windows machine but the macOS version works properly. I wonder if it’s cached somewhere on your system? Or if any of the other Windows users out there could try this new beta, that’d be great.

I gave it another try. Deleted plugin completely from the Local folder, then installed again, still beta 6. Tried removing autosave too, but i don’t know where else it could be cached. Anyways, i’ll wait for more feedback, v6 still works great for me.
win11, i’m not seeing the 3 new ones, right after dropping the bv7 plugin into the plugins folder (and reopening vcv). looks like still just the one w delay mode:

Seems like it got built from an old commit for some reason.

It works this time, thanks! Retours and Ondes sounds good at first try, excited to test them on the Meta later.

- The auto gain and manual gain features on Particules work properly now.
- Fixed a CPU spike when changing the Quality setting.
